Today we are checking out the latest action camera from VANTOP called Moment 6s. This is an action camera that you can buy for just under $200. VANTOP Moment 6s can record in real 4k at 60 frames per second
This camera also supports external microphones and there is actually an external microphone that comes in the box with it.
The camera comes in a cool looking box. The first thing we see is the camera in the waterproof case and the waterproof case is good to up to 30 meters in the water. However, I haven’t been diving with it but I did have the waterproof case in water and there is no water going inside.
Aside from that, you’re going to find a remote control in the box. With this remote control, you can start and stop recordings, take pictures, turn off the camera and much more. You do have to pair the remote control with the camera the first time you get it.
There is also a second battery. VANTOP Moment 6s comes with two 1200 mAh batteries in the box. On one charge you can typically get somewhere between 40 and 55 minutes if you are recording in 4k 30 fps or about 1h 30min if you are recording in 1080p. Of course, that really depends on how you use the camera: if you keep the screen on and much more.
There is also a user manual that has a lot of information in it and it could come in handy if this is your first action camera.
Aside from that, you’re going to find a bunch of mounts and stickers so you can basically mount this camera anywhere from a bicycle to a helmet.
VANTOP Moment 6s is mostly made out of plastic except for the lens, which is made out of glass. The camera looks like most action cameras these days.
On the front, we have a small display. On that display, you can see the recording resolution, the battery life you can see if you’re connected to Wi-Fi and much more.
We also have a couple of LEDs on the front, on the side, and on the top. Those LEDs can be turned on or off
At the top, we have the recording button and the holes for the speaker. On the right-hand side, we have the power button and that also lights up. On the other side, we have the holes for the microphone and a little plastic flap that will cover the USB-C charging port.
VANTOP Moment 6s can be used while it’s charging and that’s important mostly if you are doing time-lapses because those take quite a while to do. This camera can do time lapses at the press of a button.
On the bottom of the camera, we have a quarter-inch screw hole so you can attach the camera on a tripod or something like that. Also, there is a little plastic door that allows you to remove the battery and access the SD card. I’ve tried this and this 64 gig SD card (Amazon Links) on this camera and they both work fine. You basically need a class 10 SD card.
Lastly, on the back of the camera, we have a 2.33” IPS screen. That’s also a touch screen. Don’t imagine that the touch sensitivity is going to be as good as you’d get on a smartphone but it is good enough for an action camera.
The viewing angles are really good so you can see the screen no matter how you look at it. You can also adjust the brightness and that’s very important.
The video quality from this camera is just as good as the video quality from one of my favorite action cameras out there the YI 4k+ and that probably has to do with the fact that they use the same processor.
The daytime recordings look great and super sharp and detailed on par with some other more expensive cameras like Yi 4k+.
The nighttime recordings obviously don’t look as good as the daytime recordings. But the nighttime recordings actually look better than the recordings that you’d get with the GoPro 8 which is quite impressive considering that VANTOP Moment 6s is less than half the price.
This camera can also take pictures. If you have plenty of light the pictures are going to come out very sharp and detailed. But as soon as you don’t have enough light, the pictures become grainy.
Another feature that I want to mention is the ability to work with this camera over Wi-Fi:
- The camera makes a Wi-Fi network
- You connect to that Wi-Fi network with your smartphone (there is an app for Android and iOS)
- You can control the camera from your smartphone
You can see all the previous recordings that you’ve done in the past, the pictures you can download to your phone, and you can also start and stop recordings, and of course, change settings on the camera right from your smartphone.
Using the camera is pretty simple since we have a touchscreen. From the home screen, you can select what mode you need. Each mode has its own settings menu.
The camera has a general settings menu. At the general settings menu, you can change the language, turn on or off the Wi-Fi, you can even change the Wi-Fi frequency so it can be 2.4 or 5 gigahertz depending on the phone that you are using. You can turn on or off the front display, and you can turn on or off the lights and much more.
If you’re looking for an action camera that’s not crazy expensive but the camera that has really good video quality VANTOP Moment 6s is definitely one that you should consider, because the video quality is extremely good from this action camera not to mention that this camera supports an external microphone.
