Amazfit Verge Lite Review

Today we are checking out another smartwatch. The one that I have today is somewhat cheaper than other smartwatches that offer similar features. This one is called Amazfit Verge Light (Amazon Link) and this is the watch that you can buy for about $100.

For that $100 we get 1.3 inches AMOLED screen that also supports auto-brightness. It’s nice that it has auto brightness but I always find that the auto-brightness keeps the screen kind of dim. I always find myself turning off the auto-brightness and using the manual brightness because I just want the screen to look a bit brighter. So auto-brightness could have been better.

Amazfit Verge Light also supports that feature where the screen comes on every time you turn the arm towards yourself. It works good but it takes almost a second for the screen to come on every time you turn the arm towards yourself. I wish that would have been a bit faster as well.

We also have a GPS unit inside. So if you’re going for a run, a walk or for a bicycle ride, you can track your distance and speed because of built-in GPS unit.

Amazfit Verge Light Sporting Activity Stats

You don’t need to take the phone with you every single time. You can just go with the watch and whenever you come back home the watch will sync all that information to your phone. Once you’re done with whatever sporting activity you’re doing you can check all the stats on your phone, including your map, so you can see exactly where you’ve been. That could definitely be useful.

Taking a look at the watch itself. In my opinion, this watch doesn’t look that appealing. Because:

  • the screen is kind of small
  • the watch is kind of thick
  • it looks kind of “plasticky”
  • in my opinion, this watch doesn’t look that manly

If I look at Huawei Watch GT, for example, I would choose Huawei GT over Amazfit Verge Light any time. Even though Huawei Watch GT is double the price. In my opinion, this watch doesn’t look that amazing.

Amazfit Verge Light straps

At least the straps are replaceable, so you can remove the straps and put other straps in. This option can personalize the watch a bit and make it look a bit more unique.

At the bottom of the watch, there is a heart rate monitor. The watch can monitor your heart rate 24/7 and it seems to be accurate as well.

Amazfit Verge Light charger connection

We have the connectors for the charger. The charger attaches to the back of the watch but it’s a bit awkward to connect that charger, so definitely not my favorite charger out there. But at least you don’t have to charge this watch very often. On one charge you can get over three weeks. Quite impressive for a smartwatch. That includes:

  • notifications
  • some GPS usage
  • 24/7 heart rate monitoring

So definitely a long long battery life!

Amazfit Verge Light can also track your sleep but it cannot track your naps. If you are wearing the watch while you’re sleeping at night. In the morning you can check out how many hours of light and deep sleep you got. Based on that you know how your day is going to be.

Of course, the watch will also track all the steps that you do throughout the day, the calories, and the distance that you’ve done. You can check all that information either on the watch or on your phone.

Amazfit Verge Light text notification

Amazfit Verge Light can also show you notifications, so whatever notifications you get on your phone those notifications will be pushed to your watch. You can turn them off, personally I turn them off most of the time because it’s annoying to have the watch vibrating every two minutes.

You can see the notifications on the watch but you cannot reply to any notifications. If you need to reply to a notification you still need to take out your phone.

Amazfit Verge Light is mostly a fitness tracker and then a smartwatch. The Apple Watch is mostly a smartwatch and then a fitness tracker.

You can change the music on your phone from your watch. So there is a music player that can change the songs right from the watch.

Amazfit Verge Light watch faces

You can change the watch face on the watch. But there aren’t that many watch faces available in the app. There are some other apps that allow you to install watch faces but since I’m using an iPhone it’s difficult to install those watch faces. It would be much easier to do if I have an Android device. You can technically install more watch faces.

Conclusion

Amazfit Verge Light is not a bad watch by any means. But it’s definitely not my favorite watch. Mostly because of the way it looks. It looks kind of “plasticky” and childish. At least, in my opinion. You don’t have to agree with my opinion but that’s how I see this watch.

I would actually pick Huawei Watch GT (Amazon Link) over Amazfit Verge Light at any point. Even though Huawei GT is twice more expensive.

But If you like the way this watch looks it does work really good! GPS works well, the battery life is really good, so it’s not a bad watch, I just don’t like the way it looks.
